Kvarts - a great band from Norway!
Now my favorite band next to Gordon Lightfoot!
This award-winning Norwegian band just played in the tri-state area and I bought several cds! I am stuck on the new one and haven't spent as much time with the others by the individual musicians. I can strongly recomment STEINSPRANG
Jo-Asgeir Lie: accordians
Øystein Rudi: fiddle and mandolin
Tom Willy Rustad: bass, guitar, flute and mouth harp
Erlend Styve: guitar, dobro
This quartet produces original and traditional music based on the folk heritage of their native Norway, but with backgrounds ranging from classical to folk to bluegrass, they imbue their material with an originality that is both elegant at at times quirky. Artful arrangements are executed with masterful playing. Their first album in 1999 won them the Norwegian "Spellmanpreisen" (musicians prize, a national honor akin to the Grammy)
